UK Houses will miss zero carbon target

(ClimateRadar.com) National Housing Federation chief executive David Orr warned that the Government is in danger of missing its target to ensure all new homes are zero carbon by 2016. Speaking at the Federation annual conference, at the ICC in Birmingham, Mr Orr revealed that while 92% of housing association new homes are already meeting minimum sustainable standards only 2% of new homes built by private developers do so.

Zero Carbon; Zero Waste in Abu Dhabi

Foster + Partners is designing the world’s first zero-carbon, zero-waste city in Abu Dhabi. Named Masdar City, which means “the source,” the 1,483-acre project will include commercial and manufacturing space dedicated to developing ecofriendly products, housing, a university, and the headquarters for Future Energy Company, which is spearheading the initiative.

Wales: architects designing ‘carbon negative’ buildings
