(Treehugger) In an attempt to test the possibility of mitigating the effects of global warming, scientists from India, Germany, Italy and Chile plan on “sinking” carbon emissions into the Scotia Sea, off the Antarctic Peninsula in the South Atlantic, during January to March 2009.

September 13, 2007The technology to capture carbon-dioxide emissions from a power plant and store them underground is 10 to 15 years away from commercial viability, limiting the power sector’s ability to significantly cut emissions in the short to medium term, Duke Energy Corp.’s (DUK) top executive said Tuesday.
